FunkyMates AIO (All in One) Nappies :
Features of the FunkyMates AIO Nappies:
FunkyMates are an Australian Infant Nappy product that is making nappy use easier for parents alike. All FunkyMates products are handmade by myself. Now available with elastic in both legs & back!!!
FunkyMates come in a variety of sizes (some prints may only be available in certain sizes):
- Extra small (2-4.5kgs) - this size is more suited for the Premmie babies and only available via special order
- Small (3.5-9kgs)
- Medium (8-13kgs)
- Large (12-16kgs)
- Extra Large (15-28kgs)
The size you will need will vary from baby to baby depending on what weight he or she is. Any questions about sizing please ask. If your baby is 9kgs I would recommend purchasing the Medium so you will get more wear out of the Nappy.
They are also available in Plain White Terry Towelling or in the Funky Colours with the extra cover of Flannel.
What are FunkyMates Nappies made from?
FunkyMates Nappies are handmade in Australia & made from white PUL fabric over the entire inside of the Nappy (making the Nappy waterproof), double looped terry towelling, Flannel, absorbent incontinent material (Needled felt for incontinence pads with very high absorption & low washing shrinkage – 70% Polyester, 30% Viscose – 2.5mm thick – this material doesn’t break down), cotton and Hook & Loop Fasteners. Each may vary slightly in size as they are individually cut out & sewn.
We are looking into "natural" materials eg; bamboo, mircofibre, etc which will be apart of our Premium & Night Time FunkyMates Range however time & available resources are holding us up. The price of these materials is quite high & we see our current FunkyMates Range as an economic option for those of us that are looking at a budget.
FunkyMates have an internal pad sewn inside the nappy which helps to keep baby dry. The inside pad is made from 1 piece of double looped terry towelling plus 1 piece of absorbent incontinent material. The inside pad in the Large and Extra Large are made up of 2 pieces of absorbent incontinent material.
A Nappy Liner doesn't need to used, however it does add more to the Nappy by making it more absorbent and makes it easier to get rid of number 2's!
What is PUL?
PUL is an acronym for Polyurethane Laminate fabric, it is a breathable industrial strength fabric is 100% polyester and is a built in waterproof cover.
Something to Keep in Mind:"This PUL fabric is laminated with a waterproof membrane that will deteriorate if exposed to the acidic properties found in vinegar. You will need to take care when washing your FunkyMates AIO Nappies as this may case the fabric to leak. It is also recommended that you use a gentle detergent and line dry to extend the life of coated fabrics". This is a caution from our supplier.
What are the Qualities of all or Products?
Easy to use, convenient, great value, Daddy resistant, Safe (no pins required for FunkyMates), machine washable & easy to clean, able to be dried in the clothes drier or on the washing line, reusable, breathable, good for any babies with skin problems (my eldest son had infant eczema), they are environmentally friendly, Australian designed & handmade and now have elastic in the legs.
Each Nappy has Hook & Loop Fasteners in the top corners to prevent the Hook & Loop Fasteners from catching on other items being washed at the same time & allows the Nappy to grow with your little one.
Will I need to Use Some sort of Cover?
No not with the FunkyMates AIO.
When do I need to change My FunkyMates Nappy?
This does depend on your routine and like disposables babies don't sit in the same Nappy for the whole day! For example my youngest son who has been the trail subject is happy in his FunkyMates AIO for the period of anywhere between 2-4 hours. This also depends on what he has been doing during the day.
FYI - During the Evenings if you have a heavier wetter you may have to use a Cover. This is something we have found out with Toby. How we got around it? Yes it was frustrating - a plastic cover with 3 Nappy Boosters making sure that the cover is over the Nappy & it does the trick, he is wet on the inside but dry on the outside. Yes you can use a woollen cover - apparently they work - I am currently knitting one up as we speak but may get some outside help with it & hey we may market them as well. Oliver our eldest however was a light wetter & slept from 7pm until 6am without a change. Proving once again each baby is different!
Why does FunkyMates have two sorts of Nappies?
The main reason is that it gives our customers the choice of which Nappy they wish to use. Some people simply don't like the idea of not having a cover. By having two types of Nappies we are able to give our customers the freedom of choice.
All FunkyMates Products can be purchased individually or as a bulk order. We also have generous Lay-By terms available.
AdultMate enquiries are to be emailed to us via the Contact Us icon, unfortunately due to the size of the AdultMate the AIO option isn't available.
